Few, however, would be able to attach a name to it. Bearing the common name "bluets" or "Quaker ladies," Houstonia caerulea is a common flower along sunny roadsides. Anyone who logs many.   Male and female flowers are on different plants. These are harder to pick out during the day because the flower tucks into the tube at its base (which gives its other name, Bladder Campion). The flower comes out then at night to attract insects. The whole plant stands about feet high, and the flower itself is maybe an inch across.

The flowers of these plants are diverse in colour, ranging from deep reds, blues and yellows to any mixture of these. The stems are ribbed and may become hairless as they age. You are more likely to find them in pastures, meadows and woodland edges. Please be mindful that only the flowers are edible. Wild . Northeast Regional Wildflower Seed Mix. A bright mix of 25 Annual and Perennial varieties of wildflowers, this mix is formulated specially for that beautiful but tricky North Eastern climate.
